the Battle of Crazy Knee

welcome to ... this place
welcome.

crazyknee.com is:
a personal Web page launched Nov. 1, 2000,
the day Leanne had ACL/meniscus repair performed
on her right leg. Hence the "crazy knee."
This page will be updated in some weekly way. Hopefully.

We brought home a new kitten this afternoon.

name of the new cat is still up the air. it's all up to John because I refuse to call it anything other than kitty

name options of the moment: gillian or rilo. thoughts?

To protest the new, cuddly kitten, our older cat is crouched under the couch, scowling. That's what she gets for being so picky! In this day and age, we can get a BETTER cat whenever we want!

Last weekend, I jet-setted to L.A. to assist Whitney in her I'm-going-to-the-Emmys assignment. She met Brad Pitt and shared a drink with David Cross. I watched TV in the hotel room. And Brooke chauffeured us all around that strange, sprawling town.

i have a press pass

i look like a hippie and i'm in some fancyass hotel

i love the color orange. thank god.

Last week I also toured wine country with some people from work. We were out there with "the client," which means things got a little ugly.

soon-to-be wine. pre-wine

when you get the work peeps to pose for mirror shots, you know you're in trouble

And that's just a preview. More to come, my little chickadees. But right now I have to go and pet my kitten.

ha ha ha ho ho HO

It's been more than a week, and the Werdes remain happily married. Congratulations to the always inspiring duo, Heather Moore and Bill Werde. One day soon I'll send you that poem I wrote. Just pretend you're drunk on wine and high on ceremony when you have it in front of you. That will help. Seriously though, I was thrilled to be there and I wish you decades of joy and happiness.

You might have heard about our all-important pre-wedding mission: Operation Cupcake. The three of us had to transport 120 cupcakes from the Magnolia Bakery in the West Village to a bed & breakfast in New Paltz. The Magnolia staff made us jump through several hoops (and spend an extra 90 minutes idling in an air-conditioned car) before the cupcakes were set free. Later that evening, several wedding attendees succumbed to sugar-induced comas. There were no casualties.

The night before the wedding, we shook our hair and spilled beer in our laps. That's New York City for ya.

In a Crazy Knee special report, we're now on location to bring you the first installment of a four-part series entitled:

T-Shirts From the Bottom Drawer.

Ah, Wilco, remember the Summerteeth tour? Back before guitar jams had to last for 10 minutes? Notice the stunning symmetry of the letter N in the last line. It was so simple back then. Black complemented white, as Jay Bennett once complimented Jeff Tweedy.

Yes, we are the Keepers of the Assateague Beach.

A week after the 9/11/01 attacks, Microsoft gave every employee a special t-shirt. There's no quicker way to soothe national heartache, you see. Simply dole out XXXL shirts sporting American flags, and watch productivity soar.

And as a tribute to this last weekend of summer, here are some wet flowers. Go see them yourself. Now get back to work!

Good-bye to pool swimming: God bless the summertime.
