To protest the new, cuddly kitten, our older cat is crouched under the couch, scowling. That's what she gets for being so picky! In this day and age, we can get a BETTER cat whenever we want! Last weekend, I jet-setted to L.A. to assist Whitney in her I'm-going-to-the-Emmys assignment. She met Brad Pitt and shared a drink with David Cross. I watched TV in the hotel room. And Brooke chauffeured us all around that strange, sprawling town.
Last week I also toured wine country with some people from work. We were out there with "the client," which means things got a little ugly.
And that's just a preview. More to come, my little chickadees. But right now I have to go and pet my kitten.

You might have heard about our all-important pre-wedding mission: Operation Cupcake. The three of us had to transport 120 cupcakes from the Magnolia Bakery in the West Village to a bed & breakfast in New Paltz. The Magnolia staff made us jump through several hoops (and spend an extra 90 minutes idling in an air-conditioned car) before the cupcakes were set free. Later that evening, several wedding attendees succumbed to sugar-induced comas. There were no casualties.
The night before the wedding, we shook our hair and spilled beer in our laps. That's New York City for ya.
In a Crazy Knee special report, we're now on location to bring you the first installment of a four-part series entitled: T-Shirts From the Bottom Drawer.
Ah, Wilco, remember the Summerteeth tour? Back before guitar jams had to last for 10 minutes? Notice the stunning symmetry of the letter N in the last line. It was so simple back then. Black complemented white, as Jay Bennett once complimented Jeff Tweedy.
Yes, we are the Keepers of the Assateague Beach.
A week after the 9/11/01 attacks, Microsoft gave every employee a special t-shirt. There's no quicker way to soothe national heartache, you see. Simply dole out XXXL shirts sporting American flags, and watch productivity soar. And as a tribute to this last weekend of summer, here are some wet flowers. Go see them yourself. Now get back to work!
